Undercover Girl

Cephei
"Nowhere." I signed. I took the cookie and broke it in half, and handed it to Jesse under the table. Since Mary had her back turned, she didn't notice. I smiled at Jesse.

Jesse
I gave her a thumbs up and shoved the cookie in my mouth, and swallowed quickly before anyone could notice. "Thanks." I whispered.

Cephei
I smiled with a soundless laugh. I finished my half of the cookie, then signed, "Do you have any siblings?"

Jesse
"Uhm..." Well, if I did I wouldn't know, since C2 took me in as a 3 year old. "Yeah."

Cephei
"Really? What are their names?" I signed.

Shell
"Shell." I grinned, suddenly appearing in the doorway. "It's very nice to meet you. What is your name?"

Jesse
"Hey, Shell." I said. "This is Cephei, the girl I met at school today. She can't talk. But she knows sign language."

Cephei
I stood and bowed, indicating 'Nice to meet you.'

Shell
"Cephei? What an interesting name. That's one of the biggest stars known to man! It was only discovered last year, and your seven years old, so are you named after that star or is it a coincidence?"

Cephei
They knew about the star Cephei down here? I thought.

"Coincidence." I signed, then shrugged.

Jesse
"So whatcha wanna do?"

Cephei
"Board game?"

Jesse
"Scrabble?" I suggested. "It's my specialty."

Shell
"That would be unfair." I said. "The girl would lose to the both of us. What about Monopoly?"

Cephei
I shrugged and nodded at Shell's offer.

Jesse
"Okay."

((Skip over the game?))

((Sure))

Shell
"Looks like Cephei wins. She's a pretty good player." I laughed.

Jesse
"Yep. Really lucky. I always land on income tax." I sighed.

((Monopoly here and now ))

Cephei
I laughed. I pondered for a bit. "Do you have any pets? I love animals."

Jesse
"Nope." I sighed. "Sorry."

Cephei
"If you had a pet, what would it be?"

Jesse
"Hmm... I don't know." I shrugged.

Cephei
I smiled. "I have a bird."

Jesse
"Ooh? What's her or his name?"

Cephei
"His name is E-V-A" I signed. "I can get him to come here." I smiled.

Jesse
"Okay!" I said.

Cephei
I walked to the window. I actually could whistle, because it didn't require voice. I whistled a dragon song, a beautiful tune. Then, the blue bird came and sat on my hand as I held it out. I pointed to Eva.

Shell
How naive... I thought as Jesse invited the bird over. As the girl whistled, it was truly a beautiful tune. The bird flitted to the girl's hand. I stared. "You can bird call?"

Cephei
I blushed and signed, "Just this one."

Jesse
"Wow." I said. "Hello!" I said to the bird.

Eva
I chirped in response.

Cephei
"He says Hi back!" I signed.
