Iris
"What was that noiiiise!" I said, but got away from the white thing as fast as I could. I was panting even though I hadn't even ran in real life. "That was scary..."

Seramic
I walked up the stairs when I heard a thump. That wasn't normal, unless Acrilic fell off her chair again. "Acrilic, what happen--"

I saw her lay on the floor, motionless with the "The World"'s Face Mount Display in her head and the controller in her hands. I gasped. What was wrong!? I grabbed the display and looked through it. I saw a huge white giant. Fumbling with a few buttons on the controller, nothing moved. I took off the glasses-like headgear, shocked and scared. "Mooom!" I shouted.

Ellie
I force warped Iris back into town. "Iris!! You look scared! What happened?"

Iris
"I... just saw this huge white monster. I finished defeating the goblin, and then this huge white thing came. The other person I had met tried to defeat them, but then fell in all these little bits of data, and I heard this huge thump. I ran away as fast as I could, and I think I managed to get away from the monster. Oh my god, this game is too scary."

Ellie
I saw that she was scared. I knew that she met Skieth. "Don't worry. Her player character might have just died." I said, trying to cheer her up.

Iris
"Well, what was that thing?"

Ellie
"It might just be an event monster, no problem at all." I smiled. "A lot of strong monsters appear in newbie fields when there's an event, so don't worry. Hey, seeing as she was most likely helping you out, what did you learn from her?"

Seramic
I went online and to Iris's forum, since she and I were friends. I went to the General Chat section, and then to the Random Chat Thread. I read through it. Ellie had invited Iris to play in The World. Well, that's nice, I guess, but seeing what just happened to my sister, I got a bit scared. But I needed to find out the cause of her sudden collapse, so I guess I'll have to play The World too.

Man, it's been so long since I've logged onto that game.

Looking at the time stamps, I realized they had arranged a meeting not too long ago. I could perhaps come online and meet them.

"Hey, you're playing The World now? Cool! I'll log in too. :]" I posted.

I started up The World.

I came online as "PhoenixTear", one of my old characters. He was a werewolf class, a class where you needed an extension to get. I logged into the Δ server, and into Mac·Anu. There, standing in front of the Chaos gate was a player named IrisTheFlower, who I assumed was Iris, and a player named Ellie, which I obviously assumed was Ellie.

Why not, I'll roleplay. I'll pretend I didn't know them.

"Oh, hey, are you new?" I asked.

Iris
"Oooh, lot's of stuff. Stuff like... oh yeah, I am, she's not." I pointed at Ellie.

Ellie
"That's nice." I smiled.

Seramic
"Oh, you already had someone help you? How many people have you met in the world?" I smiled friendlily.

Iris
"Oh yeah, she's a friend." I said. "I've met her and.... another..." I said rather shakily. "And then... this other person... got destroyed by this scary white monster... And then she went into these little bits of data... is it an event monster, do you know?"

Seramic
That's odd... that isn't how people die in The World. Unless they updated. Maybe, if there's an event.

"Uh... no. I haven't been on this game in forever. Say, what's the name of this player? You can possibly search it up to see if she's still online. Her save point might have been another server or something, so that's why she isn't here."

Iris
"Uh, I think her name is Viscaria..."

Seramic
"V-Viscaria!?" The shock obviously showed in my voice. "Uh... I... uh... knew her. It isn't normal for her to die. She's probably in the Σ server right now."

Iris
I gulped. "I just have a really bad feeling. It was... scary. And something tells me that something happened to her in real life. But I guess I'm just taking this game way too seriously, I need to get a life..." I sighed.

Seramic
I laughed. "Heh... have you never played an MMO before?" I laughed.

Iris
I grinned weakly. "None like this. When I was a little younger I used to play some but I don't remember much about them, and they weren't like with all this stuff."

Seramic
I grinned. "Of course! The World is completely different; it's like it's a whole 'nother world itself! People have their reasons for playing this game. Some people play just to meet their friends online which they can't see in real life. Some people play for fun. Some people play because... oh, I dunno, they had a duty to do that just couldn't be told." I said. "I play because I want to get away from real life. It's sorta how I escape."

Ellie
I smiled. "Many people play for that reason. I play because The World is... sorta like a home for me."

Iris
I sighed. "Yeah... it seems so... connected... with the real world...."

Ellie
"It possibly could be." I said. "Oh hey, why don't we go to Δ: Hidden, Forbidden, Holy Ground? I heard there was no monsters there, so it would be safe."

Iris
"Okay. I should check if that Viscaria person is all right."

Seramic
"The Σ server isn't open for people until they reach a certain level. It is around 6, she might be having dinner." I shrugged. "Let's go to Hidden, Forbidden, Holy Ground then! Invite me to your party, Iris."

Iris
"'Kay then." I invited him, then I checked the forum. "Oh heeeey, Seramic says he'll log on too! Ellie, do you know what his username is?"

Ellie
I shrugged. "I haven't played with him before."

Seramic
"Who's Seramic?"

Iris
"Someone else I know that plays the world. I'll post and ask what his username is." I told Ellie. "What's your username?" I posted.

Seramic
"Oh, that's cool. Let's go to Hidden, Forbidden, Holy Ground while you wait, shall we?"

Iris
"Okay." I nodded.
