Princess of the Sun

Iris
"Yeah!" I heard someone talking. "Who's that?"

Shade
"Shell! Say something!" I whispered.

Shell
"Oh! Hello, you two look new here. What are your names?"

Solar
"Me? Akasolarei, but you can call me Solar."

Iris
"Iris!" I said. "Nice to meetcha!"

Shade
"I sense they are from the sun!" I blurted out.

Shell
"You're not supposed to say things out loud!" I hissed. "Oh, I'm Shell."

Solar
"Woah! Dude, are all shadows alive!? I never noticed!"

Iris
"Wooooah? What's a shadow? That sounds so cool!"

Solar
"It's like... a place where people cool off when the sun is too hot for them. The sun lights up everything it sees and so we don't see shadows, but what the sun doesn't see becomes shadows!" I said. "That was probably a bad explanation."

Iris
"Woahhh! That sounds cool!"

Solar
"Look, you have one!"

Shell
I stared in disbelief. "You guys... look like total idiots."

Iris
"But I've never seen a shadow before!" I said. "It's so amazing! It's all dark!"

Shell
"Total idiots..." I sighed.

Shade
"It's funny!"

Iris
"That shadow is in the shape of me! And it's like, in synch too! Wow!"

Shell
I sighed. "Should we really take them in for studies, Shade?" My shadow shrugged. I sighed.

Cephei
I skipped along the fountain, my hand dipped in the water. Then I noticed Iris, the legendary Sun Princess. I walked up to them and waved.

"Greetings, princess!" I said in Draci, bowing.

Iris
"Greetings!" I said cheerfully.

Shell
"Oh, hey Ceph. You know her?"

Cephei
I nodded, then signed. "She used to live where I did." Shell nodded in response.

Iris
"What else is there to see?" I asked Solar excitedly. "Does, perhaps, this... 'water...' fall from the sky?"

Solar
"Oh yes! That's called 'rain'! There's also snow and hail, condensed and iced versions of rain."

Iris
"Wow! I thought it was something I made up!"

Cephei
"It isn't. There are so many wonders on earth! Come, come! I shall show you a thing called wax!" I said, beckoning to her.

Iris
"Wow!" I said. "This place is so amazing!" I was in awe.

Cephei
"Do you see these? They are truly pretty. They are called flowers. Look, this one is an Iris! Your mother named you after this one because of its beauty." I smiled.

Iris
"Wow! Something that's called a ...flower... that has the same name as me?! Hello Iris! No, flower! What should I call you... oh no, it can't talk, can it?"

Cephei
I laughed. "I talk to them all the time." I smiled. "They aren't able to speak, but they can listen and will flourish by our beautiful songs. Oh, there are more than one type of flower as well. Look, that's a rose."

Iris
"Wow! The rose is pretty! Are people named Rose too?"

Cephei
"Yes! Lots of people are named after flowers!"

Shell
"Why are you talking to yourself?" I asked the girl.

Iris
"Oh, me? I'm asking whoever knows!" I said cheerfully.
