Hidden Gender Discussion

"Rin's smiling more~" Amy mused. "Is it because her brother's here?"

"Rin, you didn't smile when I wasn't here?" I asked curiously.

Quickly, Iris and Amy ran out to comfort Tadase, leaving me and my sister alone.

“Rin?” I asked again after Rin hadn’t answered.

“Well…” Rin said slowly, “I did smile… just… not as often.”

“Aww, why not? We have hearts and we have feelings.”

“Didn’t I say it before, once upon a time? I’m happiest when you’re with me.”

“So why didn’t you smile for me when I wasn’t there?”

“Because… we’re robots. We’re not supposed to have feelings,” Rin said, turning away from me.

“But we were blessed with feelings,” I responded.

“We can turn them off. Sometimes they’re a nuisance,” Rin said coldly, glancing at me from the corner of her eye.

I took Rin by the shoulders and made her face me as I stared firmly into her eyes. “Well, I can’t turn off mine. I can’t turn them off because… I fell in love.”

Rin looked over her shoulder and then her eyes met my firm gaze. “And I…” she started, “had to turn off my feelings because I fell in love.”

I let go of her. I knew what she meant… but did she have to? I didn’t understand. “But… I’m back right?” I said, hugging my sister. “Will you turn your feelings on now? Then… we both can be happy.”

She looked at me, and a small smile formed on her face. She nodded.

I smiled. I gave her a small peck on the cheek. “Thanks.”

“Len!! I challenge you!!” the annoying little Tadase kid yelled, bursting through the door.

“Hmmm?” I asked lazily, my arms still hanging around Rin. “What do you want?”

Really, who does this kid think she is? Rin is mine, and I am hers. We belong only to eachother.
