Floating Away...

Iris
"Naah. I don't get hungry for a while. I can live on one meal a day."

Amy
"Eh, I'm not that hungry either." I said. "Wanna play something? Improv something?"

Iris
"Sure!" I said.

Amy
"Wanna play bench?" I grinned.

Iris
"Sure!"

Amy
I sat on one of the benches on the boat. I grinned and motioned for her to come.

Iris
I sat there. "Hey, can I have that seat?"

Amy
"Hm? This one?" I said, acting rather clueless.

Iris
"Duh! Where you're sitting!"

Amy
"But I'm sitting here!"

I sighed. "I don't think I can play bench. I'm too... you know."

Amy
"Aww... why not?" I said. "I think it'll keep our minds off of things."

Iris
"Maaaaybe...."

Amy
"Are ya sea-sick or something?"

Iris
"I don't get sea sick."

Amy
"Then what's wrong?"

Iris
"I don't know..."

Amy
Quietly, I said, "Do you miss your family?"

Iris
I nodded.

Iris
"Look on the bright side; they weren't on the cruise ship. I'm the one who dragged you along, away from your family, so they're alive and probably the worst they could be doing right now is not caring about you. They are alive."

Iris
"At least they're alive. Yeah."

Amy
"Be glad and always look up, even though under you is bottomless." I said, leaning over the railing a little, "Literally."

Iris
I rolled my eyes and laughed. "Yeeaaah, thanks for making me feel better, Amy..." I said sarcastically.

Amy
"Whaaat?" I said. "I was joking, serious!"

I pawed at the ocean. I caught another fish and feasted. I looked at the little girl before me.

I looked in the ocean at the fishes. "Ooh, fishies! I can't see them, though."
